The chairperson for the Association of Women Religious Institutes in Malawi (AWRIM) Sr. Janepher Selemani has said Malawi is happy to host the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) as it holds its 19th plenary assembly and celebrates 50th anniversary.
Sr. Selemani said Malawi is happy and proud to be part of the two -tier celebration.
She said this on Monday when she welcomed ACWECA delegates for the 19th plenary assembly and golden jubilee celebration in Lilongwe.
“The people of Malawi have been running around to prepare for your coming in various responsibilities to ensure that your coming and stay in Malawi will be a memorable one. We are ready to assist you in whichever way we can. Do not hesitate to reach out to us should you require any assistance,” Sr. Selemani said.
She said the golden jubilee should give the association time for reflection of what it has achieved over the 50 years and strategise for the future.
The conference has drawn over 200 delegates.
ACWECA’s mission is to empower religious women for deeper evangelisation through different programmes which are anchored in ongoing religious formation.
The Sisters are also involved in pastoral activities in the Catholic Church.
ACWECA coordinates the ministry of over 30,000 Sisters from about 300 congratulations.
